LilySlim Weight loss tickers

7.2.11

The most personal blog post I've ever written.

I have decided to repurpose my blog. From this point on, it's going to be used to share my journey to lose 90 pounds. Coming to the decision to share this *VERY* personal struggle was not easy. The internet can be a very cruel (see : childish. judgemental.) place.

As I said before, this is very personal and difficult. I am here looking for support and to lend my support to others who may be going thru the same struggles.

I have been overweight my entire life. I was the "fat chick" of my high school graduating class. I didn't play sports (though, I was a majorette in the band), I didn't have alot of friends. People weren't flat out mean to me, but they also weren't friendly. I've always had the attitude "I don't care if I'm fat. If someone doesn't like me because of my weight, they aren't worth knowing". (which, let's be honest, isn't THAT bad. I could have been desperate for attention). Still, I am not losing weight so people will like me or so I can feel "sexy". This is about being healthy. The past year has changed my life in dramatic, wonderful ways and I want to be around to see what else life has to offer me. I can't do that if I'm unhealthy. Living the way I do now will only lead to diabetes, heart disease,  liver disease, increase risk of strokes and cancer, high risk for heart attacks and so on... The thought of being so unhealthy at such a young age makes me cry.

Here comes the hard part! Sharing my "stats".

I am 24 years old. I stand 5'3. I weigh 263 pounds. Shirt size : 2XL Pant size : 24.

Current target weight : 170 pounds.

Yes, 170 is still overweight, but I will dramatically decrease my risk for the illnesses I listed above, and I can lose more weight from there if I so choose.

People have been telling me it would be a good idea to log photos of my progress, but I'm not sure how I feel about that......yet! How do you stand on that topic? Will you be posting photos of your progress?

I am very fortunate to have a support system at home to motivate me to work out and eat better (half of my support system follows me to work, so he's helpful there too).

I will be posting work out routines and yummy (HEALTHY!) recipes as I go along.

What are *YOU* doing to lose weight? Are you blogging about it? Link me your blogs! I'll follow you. Let's be weight loss buddies!
